Richard Croft makes role debut as Peter Quint in Berlin

This month finds Richard Croft in Berlin where he makes his return to the Staatsoper im Schiller Theater as well as his role debut as Prologue/Peter Quint in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. This performance follows Richard’s role debut as Vere in Billy Budd in Los Angeles earlier this year, a performance that Opera News praised as a “multi-layered reading of the Captain [that] skillfully blended the assumptions of class privilege with both an awareness of his weakness as a leader and his aspirations toward a more humane society.”

In Britten’s ghostly and haunting tragedy, Richard stars opposite Emma Bell as the Governess, Anna Samuil as Miss Jessel, Marie McLaughlin as Mrs. Grose, Thomas Lichtenecker as Miles and Sónia Grané as Flora. Performances run November 15 through December 5.
